We are expanding our Data team and require an additional full time qualified Data Technician. Reporting to the Data Supervisor and operating out of our New Plymouth office, the successful applicant will provide a wide variety of services including commercial cable installation, fibre optic installation and maintenance, rewiring and retrofit, structured cabling and more.

The successful applicant will have experience in:
– The installation, maintenance and documentation of structured cabling projects including but not limited to copper and fibre optic cabling
– Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables and labelling to industry standards
– Terminating, assembling and installing 8-pin RJ45 modular connectors, coaxial connectors and optical fibre connectors
– Installation of network cabinets, equipment & wireless access points
– Supporting trainee technicians by encouraging learning in the field
– Fault finding, toning, diagnosing and troubleshooting of copper and fibre optic problems
– Developing and maintaining good working relationships with customers and other trades

Automation Technician
HEL Rimu Ltd is on the hunt for an experienced and self-sufficient PLC Programmer with proven expertise in Siemens (S7) and Omron platforms. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running — capable of designing, programming, and commissioning complex control systems across a range of industrial projects. This is not a junior or learning role. You’ll be working on live sites, programming independently, and interfacing directly with clients and project stakeholders to deliver critical automation solutions.
You’ll be embedded in our industrial and commercial controls team, leading PLC development, commissioning support, and advanced troubleshooting. Your work will cover:
– Advanced programming of Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Omron PLC systems and similar
– End-to-end project involvement from concept to commissioning
– On-site testing, simulation, and fault-finding
– Integration with field equipment, VSDs, BMS, HVAC, and industrial systems
– Development and modification of functional descriptions and I/O maps
– Collaborative work alongside electrical, HVAC, and mechanical teams
What You’ll Bring
– 5+ years PLC programming experience with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
– Experience with Omron platforms (CX-One / Sysmac Studio)
– Ability to read and work from schematics, control panel layouts, and process documentation
– Strong understanding of electrical control wiring and automation logic
– Confidence working independently under time constraints
– Great communication skills — able to represent HEL Rimu professionally on client sites
– NZ Electrical Registration (preferred but not essential if automation-only background)

Solar Installer / Electrician

Key Responsibilities
– Install solar panels, racking systems and associated equipment on rooftops and ground-mounted arrays
– Assist with installations on both new builds and existing properties
– Maintain a high standard of work quality and site safety
– Provide courteous, professional service to clients during installations
– Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles
– Uphold HEL Rimu’s commitment to Health & Safety and AS/NZS standards
What You’ll Bring
– 2+ years’ experience as an EWRB registered electrician.
– Previous experience in solar installation is essential.
– A mains parallel endorsement is a plus, but not required.
– Strong practical skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to problem-solve and take ownership of tasks.
– Comfortable working at heights.
– Full NZ driver’s license.
– Solar design experience is an advantage (but not required).
– Genuine interest in solar energy and sustainability.
