Qualified Data Technician

Reporting to the Data Manager and operating out of our New Plymouth office, the successful applicant will provide a wide variety of services including commercial cable installation, fibre optic installation and maintenance, rewiring and retrofit, structured cabling and more.

The successful applicant will have experience in:

  • Installation, maintenance and documentation of structured cabling and Audio/Video (A/V) projects.
  • Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables and labelling to industry and manufacturer standards.
  • Terminating, assembling and installing 8-pin RJ45 modular connectors, coaxial connectors and optical fibre connectors.
    Installation of network cabinets, equipment and wireless access points.
  • Fault finding, toning, diagnosing and troubleshooting of copper and fibre optic problems.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with customers and other trades.

Data Manager

We are seeking an experienced Electrical/Data Cabling Manager for our Data and Communications Division. Our projects span across multiple client businesses including government, education and construction. You will be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety and quality requirements on site and regular reporting to the HEL Rimu and Aotea Communications Management team.

You will be able to engage with key clients and stakeholders with a proven ability to foster these relationships and promote company growth. We are partnered with quality cabling brands such as Commscope and Legrand which provides our clients with a reliable and robust infrastructure and so certification in these brands is an advantage.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting team members
  • Planning and managing work
  • Quoting large and small projects and service work
  • Training of new and existing team members
  • Following all H&S requirements
  • Quality assurance of works being completed.
  • Regular updates and reporting to Management.
  • Onsite client communication
  • Installation of data cabling infrastructure
  • Trouble shooting, adjusting, and repairing faults in equipment/cables.
  • Excellent understanding of networks
  • Purchasing of materials and forecasting on project

 

Skills and Experience 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in related communications/cabling/electrical field
  • Experience leading a team of 1-4 team members.
  • Experience in installation, termination, and testing of structured data cabling, Cat6, Cat6A, and fibre optic cabling (an advantage)
  • Current driver’s license
